i'm writing from a slow internet connection in dublin, in our hotel in ballsbridge. we had a good flight, had our little snazzy blue rental car, and zipped down on the left side of the road down to county wexford -- arthurstown in particular -- a little town near the hook peninsula. we stayed at a lovely farm b+b which had what i would swear were yaks or gnus, but turned out to be highland bulls. lovely full irish breakfasts, trips to the tintern abbey, the hook lighthouse, and a neat maze at the dunbrody abbey (think harry potter maze from the goblet of fire minus the dementors and hexes and jinxes...).... we also had a drive up to waterford (as in waterford crystal), and then spent a few hours today in kilkenny and at the kilkenny castle. tomorrow, i'll wander around dublin, probably starting off with trinity college. i love being back in europe, and have been loving it over here. anyone want to give me a job over here?!?
