cheese

i'm so full of entries today, little tasty tidbits of writing flowing out of my fingers. i'm also, apparently, full of myself.

but seriously, my need to write right now is prompted by cheese. tillamook cheddar, in fact, which is a deliciously orange and wonderful tasting bite of food. in fact, i'm enjoying some right now.

which has prompted me to write. thank you to the earliest australopithecenes of our past, who had the smarts enough to have smarter and smarter kids, who in turn, through genetic mutation, adaption, and survival of the fittest, evolved into homo sapiens. and thank you to them, those smart individuals who thought that fermenting milk and having it congeal into a tasty mass was a good idea. (whoever came up with brie, incidentally, was also a genius). seriously, though, thank you to the cheese-makers of our past.

the early hunter and gatherers that i pity, however, were the ones in japan (i used to do archaeology there, incidentally): who was the first poor soul to eat blowfish and die without an antidote? and what possessed the next people, who saw their friend keel over after eating the blowfish, to try it again?

this entry was brought to you by cheese and the color orange.

thank you. my sandwhich now is all gone, we are out of cheese, and therefore i am facing an inability to write more about our hominoid and hominid ancestors. wonder if i'll get googles for austrolopithecines. i pity the undergrad who uses this entry to cram for their physical anthro final: uhm, yeah, and then lucy invented cheddar cheese. oh brother.
