about turkey

Diary Entry, written in Ankara... to be posted when i return.

in turkey, today i work. i brought my laptop, have been reading and typing. besides losing 1 page of work, things have been going surprisingly well.

i am not fasting, but eating a lot less in the day. usually i eat 2 slices of bread and drink some water around 9:30 or 10 am, then i wait until the end of fasting at 4:30. so that is 6.5 hours without eating. it isnt so different from what my sweetie does; he gets up at 4 and eats, and then holds out. but he might eat more than me, im not sure. ... in any case, i did have a pear just now, 2:30 in the afternoon. i can wait 2 more hours now. then we stuff ourselves full.

we arrived wednesday, and already had visitors; daughters and their spouses of my loves maternal grandmothers sister.... i had met one of them, not the other. and the daughter came too. there are terms for all of these people in turkish, but not in english.

thursday we went to the archaeological museum in kale, a part of ankara, then walked around into stores, etc. etc. it was really lovely, the old poorer part of town, but steep streets, lots of small little stores; reminded me a lot of cuzco, in peru. thursday evening we visited emres paternal grandfather, who i had not met before. ...

[now it is 3:50 pm, a bit of time remains before iftar, breaking the fast. fish is cooking, guess who is hungry?!?!]

[and then i never finished this entry; ah well, you get the point. more later!]
