kukui nuts
black kukui nuts worn shiny so that they look like black pearls on the na'pali kalalau trail, overlooking makana (bali hai for those of you who know south pacific), the ocean turquoise and foamy below. the wind so strong one can lean into it. jogging along the beach, the wet sand sticking to bare feet, splashing in the retreating water. the smell of sun screen and bug repellent and sweat, and the feeling of good fatigue brought on by physical exercize.
