vending machines
i know a couple of vending machines in germany - now, don't laugh, that isn't meant to sound funny. let me explain. so, unlike the us, where you see vending machines everywhere, including the grocery store where you can buy the stuff without having the scrounge for quarters in your purse, or unlike japan, where the vending machines are not only ubiquitous but sell everything, there just aren't as many vending machines here. which is fine. doesn't bother me. i know where a few are - the traintracks at frankfurt airport, and, well, yes, at my archives. a soda vending machine, gleaming white, one euro per caffeinated goodness. they even have diet coke, aka cola light here. so. yesterday. i decided that i'd want one of those cola lights as a pick-me-up. i put in my euro, caching, it rumbles promisingly... and then, presto chango, i get a bottle (glass) of cola light. problem is. the 0.5 liter bottle is half empty. and the cap is screwed off a bit. WHAT A GYP!!!!!! i was madly disappointed. but i'm over it now. now that i vented, that is.
