public displays of affection are grody

so there is a custom in this town that, up until today, i didn't have ANY problems with whatsoever. up until today, that is.

so we have a cute statue. the gnseliesel. the little goose girl. she's young, less than 16, i'd say, and is carrying a goose. tiny statue in front of the old town hall. lovely.

so, up until today, i thought the custom was cute. when you graduate, you get to kiss her. and you give her flowers. nice, right? both men and women kiss her, and i assumed we were talking a little peck on the cheeks, the forehead, maybe the lips.

so today. i'm walking home from campus. and i see a tv crew doing a show on the liesel. meaning a reporter had climbed up next to her and was doing the whole spiel: if you graduate, you give her flowers [he presents her red roses, gorgeous, might i add], and then you kiss her. AND HE FRENCHES HER! *ewww* public display of affection - making out with a statue?!?! that is where i draw the line.

like the blarney stone in ireland, which you are also supposed to kiss. i'm sorry. OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THEIR LIPS THERE. that's just ... grody. (at least people don't pee on the gnseliesel, as rumor has it they do on the blarney stone. YOU know what i am talking about. yes you do.)

anywho, so i'm seriously disturbed now.

my train for freiburg is in 40 minutes. i'm packed. monday i'll be in an archive down there. i'll update monday evening! stay gree, everyone, don't do anything i wouldn't do!
