marriage

slow and quiet day in dland today.

wonder why that is? may 3rd, huh? everyone busy today? i'm not. it is evening here, 8:30 pm, i just had a yoghurt (post dinner sweet tooth, so much for the watching-what-i-eat bit), have had several phonecalls, and am trying to work. slow and stead, emphasis on slow.

elgan asked about the institution of marriage and why we decided to get married, what it means to us. i think it is a bunch of things... in no particular order: for one, expressing love and committment infront of friends and family, showing one's love to the world - that, to me, was important. as was the fact that to me, marriage means a stronger committment to a person, a complete and utter sharing and giving and receiving. more so than just a serious relationship. i didn't think it would feel so different, after all, we had been together for over 5 years when we got married, but there is certainly a new strenght that comes with a new marriage.

that is just a short answer, not very well thought out, a gut reaction to elgan's question... perhaps more will form in my mind as time goes on.
