archives, finland, and pirates

it is decidedly too hot in the archives. outside it is balmy. outside it is perhaps 25-30 degrees celsius, and in here i�d say it is at least 35 if not 40 degrees. yes, they are putting in an air-conditioner. but when will that be, please? uhm, how about ... now? what about ... now? would be nice. ... now? ok, still no luck. more later....
sitting here, reading about various conferences etc. that took place, and am getting nostalgic and whistful for the finland conference that i had two years ago. i mean, perhaps it wasn�t as great as i make it out to be (the lectures, etc., including my own, were not the best or most exhilarating), but oh how i loved the being together of this group! 2 weeks in the woods, staying in dorms, sauna every other day, swimming in the lake surrounded by dark-green pine trees, and getting food, oh what good food we got. and coffee breaks twice a day, with cake, and yes, we all gained weight, and yes we all drank salmiakki liquor every night, passing around a bottle until 2 am around a fire, having special clothes only for the fireside (because they just got so smoky), and enjoying the company. i feel nostalgic, big time. and i�ll feel nostalgic for g�ttingen too, i just know it.... more later.....
plus, plus i have an appetite to sit and watch pirates of the caribbean over and over. been listening to the soundtrack recently, which i love, and i think it�ll always remind me of this year. haven�t seen it in a while, and a little bit of savvy might do me some good. at least cheer me up....
